It's gettin' cold here

The past couple days have been pretty cold. We woke up to snow this morning. The snow in Indy is very light and airy. Kind of like the fake snow they use in the movies. Since the wind is so strong here the snow wisps all over the road. It actually is very mystical looking. I'm nervous for winter to come this year since we are in a new state and don't really know what to expect. Snow I can handle...but cold 50 mph winds...that's a different story.

I think this picture of Livvy is so funny. It's like Driving Miss Daisy meets Look Who's Talking.

Wearing white after Labor Day and lookin' goooood

Matt had his white coat ceremony yesterday. I am so stinkin' proud of him! The white coat ceremony is a ritual schools have to welcome students into the professional medical field. They wear a short white coat while they're in school. After 4 years and a small fee of $200,000 they will give Matt the rest of his coat. I never thought about Matt being a Dr. until yesterday at the ceremony. He looked so good walking across the stage and getting "cloaked" with his white coat. And I have to say, he looks pretty dang sexy in it too. My parents were able to come out for the ceremony and it was so fun having them here for the weekend.

Now that Halloween is over she's for hire. We'd like our kids to be self-sufficient by the time they're two.

That's one way to get those pumpkin guts out

This morning we went to the Pumpkin Drop. A 700 lb pumpkin was dropped from a 200 ft. crane. It was awesome! The things americans come up with for entertainment. I love it! When the pumpkin hit the pavement it sounded like a bomb had gone off. I was surprised that it was so loud. After the pumpkin was destroyed, hundreds of kids ran out to get a piece of it as a souvenir. It was a very fun way to start the day!

Falling into Autumn

We drove down to Nashville, Indiana this weekend. There is a beautiful state park there called Brown County...the park is beautiful...unlike the name. It should be called Amazingly Gorgeous Leaves County. Maybe I'll write my Congressmen. Livvy completed the hike around the lake all by herself. It was a mile and a half around the lake and took us an hour and a half to complete. So Livvy can now do 1 hour miles. She's going to be a track star for sure!

That's more like it

Okay, okay, I'm sure you were all onto our little Indy tease. So...we don't really have a mansion of a house on 10 acres of land. We are just trying to get all our friends and family to move out to Indianapolis and we thought false advertising was the way to go. Thanks for humoring us. This is a picture of our real house. Not quite as stunning as the first house but it suits us just fine...actually more than just fine. We absolutely LOVE our new home! Our current project is picking out paint colors. I had no idea how hard this was going to be. Once I get the 700 paint samples picked up off the floor I will post pics of the inside.

The house fiasco

I have been waiting to post anything until we get into our house but since we are still hangin' out in limbo here I figured I would just go ahead and post to let everyone no we are still alive. So here is the story about our house. I'll try and keep it short and sweet for ya.

So at the first of July, Matt and I flew out to Indy to look for a house to buy. We were out here for 2 days and were blessed to find a house that we love. It is a brand new home. 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 1800 sqft, fenced yard. We made an offer, they countered, but we finally settled on a lovely little price tag of $125K. The real estate market is awesome out here! So different from B-town. My dad agreed to cosign since Matt is spending all our money learning how to be a legalized drug dealer. After spending hours and hours filling out all the paper work for the mortgage company we scheduled to close on Aug. 20th. Besides the run around everything was going quite smoothly...until about 100 miles (and 12 hrs before closing) outside of Indy our realtor calls and tell us that there is a paper from the IRS that is missing from our file and we can't continue any further until the mortgage company gets that paper. Why is the mortgage company just figuring that out now???? I have no idea. On Monday (a week ago) our realtor called to tell us the mortgage company has the paper but they are still waiting for approval on something else. I honestly have no idea what they are talking about. All I know is that we are still not in our house, and I am still living in a teeny tiny hotel room with a baby and a dog. Through it all Livvy has be great. She really has. Sure she has her moments being cooped up in a hotel room with no toys except for miniature bottles of shampoo and lotion, but honestly I've had my moments to. Hopefully we will close either today or tomorrow. Keep your fingers for us!

Besides the house drama, we absolutely love it here in The Circle City. It has been so fun learning the ins and outs of a new city. Indianapolis certainly seems like a city with a lot to offer. The people here have been very nice and friendly and the weather hasn't been too bad either. We are so excited to get into our new house and start to feel even more settled.

Here is the "Dentist Song" from Little Shop of Horrors. Enjoy!

Just as long as Steve Martin isn't my dentist

When I was little I often times would memorize songs without understanding what the lyrics meant. If the song was peppy and happy I would just sing to my little hearts content. “The Dentist” song from Little Shop of Horrors, sung by the multi-talented Steve Martin, was by far one of my favorites to sing. It wasn’t until years later that I realized I was singing about a sadist dentist who is surprisingly very light on his feet. Singing that song 20 times a day when I was young must have subliminally instilled a tremendous phobia of the dentist in me because I hate, hate, HATE going to the dentist. Well after 4 years of digging my heels into the ground I was finally dragged down to Las Vegas to go to the dentist. My brother-in-law Josh is the best dentist ever so naturally he is the only one I would trust to be the least like Orin Scrivello, DDS. 2 Valium, 2 hours of laughing gas, 1 pulled tooth, and 2 implants later I was good as new…almost. (On a side note: Matt was very excited when he learned I had 2 implants put in but was quickly disappointed when he realized the implants were in my mouth.) In 4 months I’ll have to go back in again to finish the job and then I’ll really be as good as new. I owe I very big THANK YOU to Josh for being such a good dentist and drugging me up so well. It actually wasn’t half bad this time.

Should have posted this forever ago

About a month ago we headed west to San Diego for some much needed beach and relaxation time. Matt's grandpa generously let us use his timeshare there and it was awesome! Right on the beach with the most beautiful view ever. It was so wonderful to fall asleep every night to the sound of the ocean…and not have to get up to push play again on the cd player. J Livvy had so much fun on the beach. She loved feeling the sand between her cute little toesies. It was cute to watch her figure out this beach business. We also went to Harbor Village, Old Town, a beautiful lighthouse, and some other places I can remember right now. All in all, we had a fabulous time!

Women get so emotional turning a year older

Livvy is officially 1 year old! Can't believe how fast the year has gone by. She had a great 1st birthday and got so many fun presents thanks to her wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She wasn't the least bit interested in her birthday cupcake...that girl is always watching her waistline. But she did like her birthday PopTarts! We love our little Livvy Skye! Bring on another great year!

Chelsey's Baby Shower

This past week I went up to Boise to throw a baby shower (with the help of many) for my cousin Chelsey. Baby showers are always so much fun! Chelsey is due in just a couple weeks, so we had to get a fun party in before all the wonderful chaos begins. Chelsey's sister-in-law, Annie, planned some fun games, our cousin Sara made the cutest party favors, and my mom made all the delicious food. We had a great turn out for the shower and I think everyone had a good time. We can't wait to meet baby Jaxton!
